Pursuit & Entrapment

Desperate for violence on the lawn
we tangle boldly.
Our third world use & grudge
activated by sprinklers & simultaneous mud
beneath the ears of the eucalyptus. Our veins
a written rancor, malevolent characters
embossed on biceps. We spar, the body
a heavy bag to strike & kick.
We contend by grappling & throw to the ground.
We are opponents on the same side.
Our limbs a snare of dark wires
having to do with pursuit & entrapment.
He subjugates.
I leash.
